One of the biggest goals President Trump had coming into the White House was fixing the broken immigration policies that have been in place for so long. We have known about the problems for quite some time, but the Obama administration did nothing to fix them. Finally we have someone who cares in the White House and we are quickly seeing the results.
He wants to stop illegal entry into the United States. And if the new numbers coming in are any indication, it looks like he is winning, big time.
He is breaking records left and right. A press released from DHS gives some of the numbers.
“Notably, from the start of the Trump Administration on January 20, 2017 through the end of the fiscal year, (Enforcement and Removal Operations) made 110,568 arrests compared to 77,806 in FY2016 — an increase of 40 percent.”
To add to that, less and less people are trying to illegally cross the border to begin with, which is what officials really want to see.
“In FY17, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded the lowest level of illegal cross-border migration on record, as measured by apprehensions along the border and inadmissible encounters at the U.S. ports of entry.”
These are all huge wins for the administration which strives to cut back illegal immigration in a huge way. Hopefully we can continue to see this kind of reduction going forward.
